Fae S.R.L. : a short story

In 1976 the Fae company was born in Milan, founded by Agostino Farruggia, who had previously achieved interesting experiences in multinational companies in the field of electronic components.

In the 1990s, a process of transformation of the company activity began, focusing mainly on the research of sensors and systems for the control and measurement of production processes, relying on German and US manufacturers with whom collaboration agreements were stipulated.

Now we can count on a wide range of electronic tools that meet the needs of many companies in the field of Quality Control and Occupational Safety.

Some application examples :

- In the Paper, Plastic and Iron and Steel industries, Laser Measurers are increasingly used to measure the diameter of the coils in the winding and unwinding phases without contact.

- In steelworks special lasers can be used to measure the geometry of slabs and billets even at temperatures ≥ 1000°C. At the outlet of the continuous casting, the Laser Doppler System can be used, complete with accessories for protection in harsh environments, in order to accurately measure the length and speed of the blooms.

- In the geological field, high-precision lasers can be used to monitor the state of decay of bridges, overpasses and building structures such as schools, churches and buildings of artistic and historical importance. The measurement distance can vary from > 100m, to obtain millimeter precision, to > 1000m for centimeter precision.

- In the field of occupational safety, laser scanners with SIL2 certification can be used to prevent accidents to people working in dangerous areas. The control area of the laser scanner can reach > 10m.

Other widely used tools are:

√ Flow and flow sensors for measurements on air, water, oil pipes, etc.

√ Pyrometers for non-contact temperature measurements on objects up to 3000°C

√ Vision and laser systems for checking railway cars, also ON-LINE
