Global
Gauge Europe is a full line manufacturer of X-Ray Thickness Gauges,
providing engineering, design, fabrication, installation and
service from our facility in Italy and
through our partners in USA (Dayton,OH) and Asia (Beijing).
Formed
in February of 1999, Global Gauge acquired the assets of Kirkendall
Metrology, Inc. (KMI) formerly known as Kirkendall Measuray, Inc.
The Measuray gauges date back to the 1950’s when they were first
introduced by Sheffield Bendix Corporation. Also acquired
the assets of PDM.
The
tradition of providing support to industries requiring sophisticated
measurement equipment became the foundation on which Global Gauge would
build.

DEVICES
X-RAY
GENERATOR
The
GHF X-Ray Generator is a modern, reliable device, using a
state-of-the-art, solid-state high-voltage multiplier circuit and a
proven, reliable
X-ray tube. The
generator can be set at any kV level over its operating range, and the
voltage can be maintained at better than +/- 99.9% of the set point.
Since
the generator is set at a specific kV point for each nominal thickness,
the noise component associated with the generator is minimized
at every thickness. Additionally,
since the generator is adjusted to the precise level of X-ray required
to measure the target thickness, no
extra radiation is emitted, making this
generator design inherently safer. These
two aspects of the Global Gauge generator are superior to that of an
isotope generator.
DETECTOR
The
Detector is an integrated X-ray detection system which includes all
necessary elements for measuring the X-ray signal and for providing
an
output to the gauge computer. The Detector is a sealed aluminum housing,
and contains a scintillator crystal, photo-multiplier tube (PMT), PMT
high-voltage regulated power supply, pre-amplifier, and amplifier
circuit.
The electronic circuits are designed and manufactured with very
close coupling, to reduce the signal noise. An
Ion chamber is also available for aluminum and other applications
that can utilize the special features of the Ion chamber.
STANDARDS
MAGAZINE
The
Standards Magazine houses a set of standards, which when used in
combination covers the entire thickness range of
the material to be measured. Designed
for robustness and long life, the standards magazine can be counted on
to operate reliably in all mill applications. All
standards are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and
Technology. Global
Gauge offers the certification of thickness samples under the scope of
the ISO/IEC 17025:1999. Certification
is performed by
the "Standards Calibration Laboratory", a division of
Global Gauge Corporation.

BASIC
SYSTEMS
EPC
The
Electronics Power Cabinet is a heavy duty steel enclosure which can be
supplied to the required NEMA standards.It
contains the necessary controls and signal processing circuits to
operate the gauge system and to have it communicate externally. The
EPC houses the computer running Windows® .
All software is loaded onto the Gauge at Global Gauge and
thoroughly tested before shipping.
RCP
The
optional Operator’s Remote is a station that allows the Operator to
remotely operate the gauge and to view data in real-time
The
Operator’s Remote may be equipped with a Keyboard, Function Key Panel
or Touch Screen at the user’s option.

Simply add a PC with Windows NT ® and gauge software, network
card, plus cable, and you have it
C-FRAME
Each
C-Frame is custom manufactured to the specific requirement of the mill,
and is designed to withstand the harsh environmentsassociated
with hot and cold mill applications.
The rigid steel construction houses the generator, standards
magazine, and
detector assemblies in precise alignment.
The C-Frame and its associated control system can be designed for
centerline operation, scanning,
or
profiling (on Hot Mill applications).
Various drive systems can be used, such as positive chain drive,
friction drive, rack-and-pinion
drive, or hydraulic cylinder.
For scanning systems, the motor control and chain drive allows
the operator to push a single button
to Auto-Center the C-Frame and then perform the scanning function.
